Sarajane Ambrose founded Maternally Yours in 1996 to create the UK’s first specialist professional agency. To this day we have placed and continue to place the very best experienced Maternity Nurses and Night Nannies for discerning parents-to-be in London, the UK and overseas.
The Beginning of My Own Pregnancy Journey
A few years after founding Maternally Yours, when my first pregnancy was confirmed, I was truly excited to reap the rewards of the very service that I had recommended to many mothers before me. Having assisted our clients on their own special journey, I knew that becoming a mother could be a smooth and enjoyable experience with the right support and I was ecstatic that I was finally on that journey!!
3 Pregnancies, 4 children
As a mother of 4, having had three deliveries (including twins) and three Maternity Nurses, I know from personal experience the reassurance and practical support a true professional can give. Each Maternity Nurse provided support that in each case allowed me to navigate through the unfamiliar territory of motherhood and the different temperaments of each baby in a stress free way. I was able to delegate the night feeds, sleep through the night after expressing a stash of milk and wake up feeling refreshed and energetic. During the day I would spend hands-on Mummy time with my new baby or babies alongside my Maternity Nurse, while at the same time being able to enjoy the flexibility of addressing work and social commitments, which also included much needed alone time with my husband!
The Importance of a Good Night’s Sleep
Having taken our established sleep routine for granted, when my eldest children started nursery I was asked by sleep-deprived parents whether we managed to get any sleep with 4 children under 5 which served as a reminder of the long term rewards of booking a Maternity Nurse. Those sleep-deprived parents were astonished to learn that all 4 children were sleeping through the night due to the early structure put in place by each one of my Maternity Nurses which ensured not only the quality of sleep at the time but guaranteed future success as well.
Investing in Your Family’s Sleep
By laying the foundations from the very beginning, my babies learned effective sleeping habits which as the years passed by they have continued to maintain throughout their growth and development.
There were, of course, broken nights’ sleep due to teething, bouts of illness or from a bad dream, but this is a normal part of baby and childhood sleep patterns.
I can say, hand on heart, our decision to have Maternity Nurses proved invaluable and well worth the investment for all my family.
